Make 15 squares
3/4 cup Medjool dates, pitted
1 cup Tahini or Sesame seeds make into tahini paste
Nuts & Seeds
1/2 cup Pistachios
Prepare a small 8 x 8 pan or loaf pan with parchment paper and set aside. If your dates are dry, soak them in hot water, then drain and rinse before adding to the recipe.
Add the runny tahini and dates to a high speed blender and pulse until thick and well combined.
Press the mixture into the parchment covered pan and top with chopped pistachos.
Freeze for at least one hour, until set.
Remove pan from the freezer and slice into squares. Serve immediately.
Store leftover halva in the freezer until ready to serve.
Tahini sauce :
Toast raw sesame seeds (optional) : Toasting raw sesame seeds gives the tahini a nuttier flavor.
Place the sesame seeds in a food processor or fitted with the s-blade.
Grind the sesame seeds: Process for 2 to 3 minutes until the sesame seeds form a crumbly paste.
